During Meet the Mountaineers on Tuesday, November 18, we’ll be hosting a Miracle Minute to support the Miilu family, who recently experienced the heartbreaking loss of their mother in an apartment fire.
We encourage everyone attending to bring a cash donation. Every dollar collected will go directly toward helping the family with household needs and expenses during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Mountaineer community, for always showing up with compassion and generosity.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This past weekend, the mother and stepmother of four of our students perished in an apartment fire. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family during this unimaginably difficult time. The school has implemented a response plan that was developed some time ago to deal with situations of tragedy or trauma, such as that which we now face. We have staff trained in handling the effects of trauma who are reaching out to all our students and also identifying students who are in need of special assistance and support during this time.
Each student and staff member will react differently to this event. We – all of us, staff, parents, and children – should expect to deal with a spectrum of emotions, in ourselves and in other members of our community. A document package has been prepared to assist you in identifying and addressing your children’s needs. You will find this material helpful after reviewing it.
You may have questions, comments, or concerns. If so, do not hesitate to bring them to our attention.
We know you will join us in our concern, support, and sympathy for those involved in and affected by this incident. We also greatly appreciate your cooperation and assistance.
Sincerely,
Iron Mountain Public Schools

Yesterday, our students enjoyed a special treat- Puerto Rican rice, lovingly prepared by our own cafeteria team member Ingrid Pagan Gracia!
Ingrid moved to the U.P. from Puerto Rico in 2021 and says she’s grown to love life here. She wanted to share a piece of her culture with our students, cooking up this flavorful dish made with rice, sofrito (a blend of peppers, onions, cilantro, and spices), tomato, sazón, ham, and red beans.
Like many Puerto Ricans, Ingrid grew up eating this dish and learned to make it from her grandmother. Thank you, Ingrid, for bringing warmth, flavor, and culture to our cafeteria!

We’re proud to present a digital catalog of Iron Mountain High School yearbooks, dating all the way back to 1916! For decades, our yearbook, lovingly called The Argonaut, has captured the memories, milestones, and history of our school and community.
This digital collection lets you explore generations of students and events, with a convenient search-by-text feature to make finding names, clubs, and special moments easier than ever. (Note that feature may not work on all yearbooks)
Dive into our rich history and reconnect with the past!Note: Yearbooks will be updated every 10 years.
Title I funding is used to offer support services to students who need extra time and instruction to master grade level curriculum. Title I schools are identified through a state formula each year.
A parent letter will be sent home if your child is identified as eligible for support services funded through Title I. Title I services may be short term or long term depending on the needs of each individual student. We are pleased to offer these services to help ALL of our students be successful.
If you have any further questions, please contact your child's building Principal or the District Office.

The district periodically surveys all Iron Mountain Public School families in order to gain insight into family perception of our school and district effectiveness. To ensure we continue to provide high quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of our learners and prepare them for college and career, we need your and your student's feedback.
